Spring Repair
A snapped torsion or extension spring, a door that weighs a ton by hand, or a gap in the coil above the opening.
More on Spring Repair →In Saugus, part of the City of Santa Clarita, owners hold most of the homes: in the 91350 ZIP area 82.5% of occupied homes are owner-occupied, and 38.6% were built in 2000 or later.

That is the average at the Dry Canyon station just north of town. Genie advises against screw-drive openers where seasons swing this hard.
Same station, whose record ends in 1990. Clopay says vinyl seals outlast rubber in sun, and silicone stays flexible in heat.
The National Weather Service puts the usual window there, peaking in December, with the wind strongest below passes and canyon mouths.
Nearly all the year's rain falls then, so a bottom seal that no longer meets the floor shows up as a wet slab.
We work across the whole 91350 ZIP area, which sits entirely inside the City. These are the names the City and federal maps use for its canyons and tracts.
Along Skyline Ranch Road, between Plum Canyon Road and Sierra Highway.
Off Copper Hill Drive, near Copper Hill Park, in a canyon the federal place-name file puts inside the City.
One of two City landscape zones reached from Copper Hill Drive.
The other zone off Copper Hill Drive, a separate district on the City's list.
The canyon and its road, with Plum Canyon Park in the same City zone as Skyline Ranch.
This community sits on ground with a history. The 2007 Buckweed Fire's mapped edge covers about a quarter of the City land in the 91350 ZIP area, and parts of Saugus are mapped Very High fire hazard by the County. USGS traces of the San Gabriel fault cross City land here too, and the Southern California Earthquake Data Center puts the fault's only Holocene rupture evidence between Saugus and Castaic. None of that changes how a spring is wound. It does change what we check on a replacement: the perimeter gap where wildfire rules apply, and how firmly the track is fastened to the framing.

All of the 91350 ZIP area lies inside the City, so its Census numbers describe this community more cleanly than any other local ZIP. Of 13,985 homes, 78.6% are detached houses and 8.2% townhouse-style. The median home dates to 1989, the 1980s were the biggest decade at 24.7%, and 4.8% went up in 2020 or later, the top share among City ZIPs.
That mix puts two kinds of door on the same streets: 1980s doors whose springs, rollers and seals have run for decades, and newer doors whose openers came with the battery backup California has required since July 2019.
